Larry L. "Pete" Stokes

Larry L. "Pete" Stokes, 81, of Macon, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, May 24, at 11:00 AM at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Pastor, Lee Griffin officiating. Immediately following, Mr. Stokes will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Mr. Stokes was born on June 14, 1942, in Peach County, Georgia, to the late Mr. Lobelia O. Stokes and Mrs. Martha Jeanette Harris Stokes. He retired from Armstrong World Industries after 37 years of service. Mr. Stokes was an avid sports fan; playing football in high school, coaching baseball, and was found every Sunday rooting for his beloved, Green Bay Packers. In his free time, he thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors working in the yard.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stokes was preceded in death by his brother, Dewey Lee Stokes.
Left to cherish Mr. Stokes memory are his loving wife of 60 plus years, Lynn Anne Halstead Stokes; sons, Carlton Lee Stokes (Gina) and David Kendall Stokes (Laura); granddaughter, Meghan Leigh Stokes; grandson, Christopher Todd Foster; sister, Patricia Ann Stokes Touhy (Danny Howard); and many extended family members.
