Lanita Carpenter

September 15, 1953 — February 22, 2024

Lanita Jane Morrison Carpenter, 70, of Bonaire, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, after a long battle with cancer and kidney disease. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Lanita is survived by her daughter, Lanita Davis; sister, Sally Robitaille; brothers, Joel Morrison, and Frank Morrison; grandchildren, Courtney Davis, Spencer Davis, Lillian Jackson, Rhylan Kerr, McCoy Jackson, Luke Jackson, and Andree Jackson. Lanita was preceded death by her son, Edgar "Teddy Bear" Carpenter; parents, Frank and Johanna Morrison; and sister, Gail Spiak.

Lanita was born on September 15, 1953, in Delanson, New York, and was a graduate of Duanesburg High School. As a wife of a Marine, she traveled most of the U.S. and lived in New York, North Carolina, Kansas, California, and settling in Georgia in 1991. She was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church and the Amazing Grays. Lanita was always willing to help when she could, volunteering to work with the children ministry at Southside, Trinity Methodist food pantry, Kids Yule Luv, and collected donations for numerous benefit dart tournaments and raffles. She received a certificate of merit for a recipe published in Treasured Recipes Potpourri of Cookery and had a helpful hint published in Bass Masters Magazine. She enjoyed fishing, even competing in a couple of bass tournaments. Lanita also liked playing darts where she was a player on a few first-place teams in the local dart leagues.

Lanita will be dearly missed by her family, including numerous nieces and nephews; extended family; and numerous friends.

Lanita will always be remembered by her ex-husband Ed Carpenter and family.
