Judith “Judy” Smith, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026 after a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease. A memorial service to honor Judy’s life will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 2 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home in Macon. The family invites friends to join them one hour prior to the service at 1 p.m. for a time of visitation.
Judy was born on May 25, 1942, in Illinois, and was raised in Tampa, Florida, where she graduated from Plant High School. She was the daughter of Odell and Gladys Hicks, and was preceded in death by her brother Mike Hicks and her sister Joyce Brewer.
On January 4, 1964, Judy married Stockton “Skipper” Smith, beginning a marriage and family that remained central to her life. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Judy lived a quiet life and found comfort in familiar routines. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed going to church and being part of her church community.
She is survived by her husband Skipper Smith; her son Rusty Smith and his wife Lisa; grandson Scott Smith and his wife Abby, and their children Trey, Cole and Blair; granddaughter Joy Brown and her husband Mark, and their daughter Laiken; and her daughter Heather (Smith) Loveridge, her husband Brandon, and their children Carson, Blake, Darcy, Aubrey and Everly.
She was preceded in death by her son Shawn Smith and his wife Valerie Smith, and is survived by their children Hunter and Morgan.
