Born in Long Island, New York, to the late Joseph and Queenel Jenkins, Pastor Jenkins proudly served our country in the United States Army. He served and was injured during the Vietnam Conflict during an ambush and received a Purple Heart for his sacrifice. After his time in the Army, Pastor Jenkins began working for the United States Post Office where he retired after several years of faithful service. Probably one of the things Pastor Jenkins was most proud of was his ministry. He was of the Apostolic Faith and served as the Pastor of Gods Resting Temple in Musella, Georgia. He began his career in ministry around 1983 and was ordained in South Carolina. He loved studying and teaching the Word of the Lord to everyone and had a collection of books and study materials he had accumulated over 40 years. When he was not spreading the gospel, Pastor Jenkins enjoyed all types of music, and played the trombone and electric bass. He also enjoyed basketball and he had a green thumb like no other. Pastor Jenkins loved watching and feeding his hummingbirds and was quite the decorator.
Pastor Jenkins was greeted at the gates of heaven by his parents, Joseph and Queenel Jenkins; Son-in-law; Roy Bell, Jr and his fur baby, Champ.
Left to carry on his memory is his adoring family: his wife of 43 years; Bettie Jean Jenkins, four children; Stacy Jenkins, Cindy Jenkins Bell, Dr. John J. Jenkins (Tricia), and Pastor Trevor S. Jenkins. one granddaughter, Aisis Jenkins Hull ,a devoted God son; Homer Clyde Jackson. Three sisters: Lorine Wallace, Lily Thompson, and Barbara Foster; along with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and beloved church family. Pastor Jenkins sweet spirit and kind soul will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
