Joseph Bassett

Joseph Nathaniel Bassett Sr. 87, of Macon, Georgia passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Road at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Charles Hodnett will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service in the funeral home.
Born in Houston County, he was the oldest of 12 children born to Robert Lee and Annie Ruth Hardison Bassett. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Velma Frances Hinton Bassett. He was retired from Georgia Kraft Paper Co. with 40 years of service, and owner of Bassett Tire Company in Macon.
Mr. Bassett was a member of New Elim Baptist Church, where he formerly served as deacon, and a Sunday School Teacher.
He is survived by his children, Jody Bassett, Velma Denise Bassett, Stephen Bassett (Sandra), Keith Bassett (Lisa), Angela Denny(Rick). Nine Grandchildren and Four great grandchildren. One brother and five sisters.
