It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joni Nicole Lester, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, who departed this world peacefully on Thursday, June 25th, 2026, in Dry Branch, GA. Born on Tuesday, April 1st, 1980, in Stockbridge, GA, Joni was a vibrant soul who touched the lives of everyone she met in her 46 years of life.

Joni was a devoted waitress, dedicating many years to her work at Fincher's Barbecue and Waffle House. Her warm smile and caring demeanor left a lasting impression on her colleagues and patrons alike.

She was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Hank Leroy Lester Sr. and Sheila Cunningham. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her sons, Mason and Stephen Smith, her daughter Dakota Barefoot, her brother Hank Lester, Jr., and her sister Misty Lester. Joni was a proud and doting grandmother to Alieah, Nathan, Charli, Saint, and Gabe, with another grandchild on the way, whom she was eagerly anticipating.

Joni had a passion for crocheting and adult coloring books and spent countless hours watching crime dramas and documentaries.
