The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Mitchell will be cremated following the service.
Mr. Mitchell passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026.
Born on November 14, 1951, Johnny was the son of the late Charlie Edward Mitchell and the late Roberta Irene Peterson Mitchell. Throughout his life, Johnny was known for his warm heart, infectious sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
Johnny proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning a successful career in the automotive sales industry. He dedicated more than twenty years of service to Purser Truck Sales, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of both colleagues and customers through his hard work, honesty, and friendly personality.
Above all else, Johnny cherished his family. He shared 26 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Sharon Phillips Mitchell, whom he affectionately called "Sheri." Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories.
Johnny found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time fishing, tending to his garden, barbequing for family and friends, and sending reels to those he cared about. A true prankster at heart, Johnny never missed an opportunity to tell a joke, pull a harmless prank, or bring a smile to someone's face. His laughter was contagious, and his ability to brighten a room will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his beloved wife, Sheri, Johnny is survived by his children, Jonathan Mitchell, Jessica Mitchell, and Kristy Nasworthy; his stepsons, Brandon Malawong and Ryan Bohannon; his sisters, Kathy Marsh and her husband, Lamar, and Patricia McSwain; and his cherished grandchildren, Izzy Mitchell, Elijah Mitchell, Kaleb McElmurray, and Allen Cole Stanovich. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Kaiden Mitchell.
Johnny's legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. While his family mourns his passing, they also celebrate a life well lived and a man who never met a stranger, always had a joke to tell, and loved deeply those fortunate enough to call him family and friend.
The family wishes to extend a special Thank-You to Brightmoor Hospice for their loving care and compassion for Johnny and the family during his final days.
