John Eugene Swann

d. January 12, 2026

John Eugene Swann, affectionately known by many as “Johnny Cuz,” 68 of Macon, Georgia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 12, 2026. A celebration of his life will be 2:00 PM Saturday January 17, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Benjamin Newberry will be officiating.

Born on November 23, 1957, in Macon, Georgia, John was the beloved son of the late Mr. Samuel Milton Swann and Mrs. Julia Mae Swann. He lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering conviction.

John was a devoted family man who cherished his grandchildren above all else. His grandbabies were the light of his life, and he took immense pride in being present, involved, and loving. A longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, John lived his faith boldly and openly, often sharing his favorite phrase with anyone he met: “Jesus loves you, and so do I.” He had a special love for children and was well known for always having gum to hand out, making sure every child felt seen, welcomed, and loved.

Known for his strong opinions and unmistakable voice, John was kind, caring, stubborn, passionate, opinionated, and never shy about speaking his mind. As the family agitator, “Johnny Cuz” had a way of stirring things up while keeping laughter close at hand, always reminding those around him just how deeply he loved them.

John found joy in simple pleasures. He loved cutting grass and took great pride in his own yard, often extending that kindness to elderly and needy neighbors by mowing their lawns free of charge. He had a special heart for caring for the elderly and quietly served others with compassion and humility. He also deeply loved driving the school bus, where he not only transported children safely but took time to mentor them, encourage them, and show genuine care for their lives. John cared deeply about kids and made it his mission to make a positive difference in their days.

A devoted sports fan, John loved NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, and was an enthusiastic supporter of both Georgia and Alabama football. His loyalty, much like his devotion to faith and family, never wavered.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Abby Swann, who held a special place in his heart.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Jonathan Eugene Swann and William Dustin Swann; his daughter, Sierra (Robert) Swann; his goddaughter, Kathryn Lofty; his sisters, Louise (Billy) Dykes, Nancy Swann, and Debra (Mickey) Blankenship; his grandchildren, Christian (Tim) Wood and Colton Rowland; his great-granddaughter, Lynleigh Wood; his best friend, Tammy Artman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

John Eugene Swann will be remembered for his faith, his service to others, his love for family, and the way he lived out his words each day: loving boldly, speaking honestly, and always pointing others to Christ.
