John Henry Plunkett, 93, of Macon, Georgia passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 16, 2025. In honor of his wishes, no funeral services are scheduled at this time.
John was born in Alabama on January 6, 1932, to the late Mr. John Nolan Plunkett and Mrs. Lydia Turner Plunkett. He was a hardworking man spending many years driving a truck for Ryder. He is described by his family as a "simple man" who loved the outdoors and his family. He could spend hours tending to his garden or manicuring his lawn. In his younger days he loved to travel, especially road trips to visit his brother in Texas or his granddaughter in California. As his family grew his passion grew with it; he loved playing with the grandchildren and great grandchildren, even rolling on the floor with them. He was a dedicated and loving patriarch; he will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nell Hill Plunkett; son, Steve Plunkett, and eight siblings.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Melanie Skipper, Sandie Plunkett; brother-in-law, Ken (Deloris) Hill; grandchildren, Amy Baughcum, Jason Honeycutt, Shelley (Henry) Black; great grandchildren, Alan (Rachel) Baughcum, Justin Baughcum, Kali Baggett, Kaden Black, Noah (Bella) Black; great great grandchildren, Ryleigh Baughcum, Matthew Baughcum, William Baughcum; several nieces and nephews; life long friends Linda and Butch Howell, and Mike Shepard.
