John Phillips

October 17, 1946 — February 25, 2025

John Barry Phillips, 78, of Macon, Georgia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. All funeral services will be held at a later date.

John was born in Byron, Georgia on October 17, 1946, to the late Mr. John Calvin Phillips and Mrs. Ruby Roberts Phillips. John was a man of great character and dedication. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he earned the respect of his fellow servicemen as a proud Vietnam veteran. After his honorable discharge, John transitioned to a peaceful life, working as a groundskeeper for Broad Mower, where he took great pride in his work. Outside of his job, John had a deep love for old country westerns, especially the timeless music of Hank Williams Sr. He was also an avid collector of stamps, antiques, and baseballs, always cherishing the memories behind each item. His love for animals was evident, as he had a natural tenderness for them. While John could be stubborn and strong-willed, his generosity and kindness shone through in every aspect of his life. As a father, husband, and friend, he was incredible—offering love, support, and wisdom to all who knew him. His memory will always be cherished by those fortunate enough to have had him in their lives.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his sisters, Willene Arp, Pricilla Watson, and Brenda Jones.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 54 faithful years, Linda Gail Phillips; son, Troy Phillips; brother, Ricky Phillips; fur baby, Brownie; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
