John Wayne Kitchens, Sr., 71, of Lizella went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, May 27, 2017. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Rd, Macon. Wayne's close personal friend, Reverend Phil Bryant, will officiate. Immediately following the service, Wayne will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will have a time of visitation Tuesday at the funeral beginning at 9:30 until service time.
Born July 3, 1945 in Macon, Wayne was a graduate of Willigham High School. While in high school he met the love of his life, Patricia, who would later become his wife and mother of his children. Over the years, they were members of New Elim Baptist Church and later became members at Hilltop Baptist Church. Wayne was an avid pool player and loved all things billiard related. He was a member of the American Pool Players Association, serving as a coach, as well as a member of many teams. He played every Tuesday morning with the breakfast group. When he wasn't playing pool, Wayne enjoyed fishing, racing, playing golf and Texas Hold Em. He was also a member of the Middle Georgia Pigeon Racing Association and raised and trained homing pigeons. Above everything, Wayne was an amazing husband, father, papa, son, brother and friend to all who knew him. PaPa loved and adored his grandchildren so very much.
He was preceded in death by his father, John P. Kitchens, as well as one brother, Ray Lee Kitchens.
Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy is his loving family, his wife of 52 years: Patricia Herring Kitchens. Four children: John Wayne Kitchens, Jr. "Johnny", Michelle Kitchens, Benjamin Chad Kitchens, Sr. "Benjie" (Linda), Brian Alan Kitchens (Renee). Seven grandchildren: John Wayne Kitchens III, Brittany Grant (Josh), Jessica Kitchens, Autumn Kitchens, Brayden Kitchens, Benjamin Chad Kitchens, Jr. "Benjie", and Kayla Kitchens. One great-granddaughter: Hanna Grant. As well as his mother: Mamie Tyler Kitchens, and one sister: Elaine Sellars (Jim).
