John E. Dickson, 82, of Macon, GA, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Funeral services to honor him will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home in Macon, GA with Pastor Chip Grantham officiating. The family will greet friends an hour prior to service time. A graveside service with military honors for Mr. Dickson will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Cedar Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Route 1, Alamo GA 30411.
John was born on July 31, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Mr. Charles Melvin Dickson and Mrs. Mary Eliza Oglesby. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Teana Dickson, children Mike (Eleanor) Dickson and Lisa Dixon. Grandchildren Christopher (Meaghan) Dickson, Sara (Tony) Whitten, Maggie Dixon, and Chandler Dixon. Great-grandchildren Noah Dickson, Abigail and Wylie Whitten. Siblings Patricia Lyda, Ervin Dickson, and James Dickson. Along with many nieces and nephews.
John is an Air Force Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. After leaving the Air Force, he settled in Macon, GA to raise his family where he worked in the automobile industry for many decades. Throughout his many years in Macon, he became very involved in the VFW, the Eagles Club, and the Metro Macon Mid 50's Car Club. He is a Member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church and was active in the choir, men's club, and played on the men's softball team. To understand who John is, read Philippians 2:3-4, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interest but each of you to the interest of the others."
