Macon

Jodi Dianne Smallwood Wingate, 49, of Macon, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 8, at 2:30 PM at Parkway Assembly of God. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to service time.

Jodi was born on October 11, 1976, in Macon, Georgia. She was a vibrant and outgoing woman whose joyful personality could light up a room. Jodi loved to laugh, have fun, and make the most of every moment. She had a wonderful ability to make those around her feel comfortable and welcome, and she never needed much of an excuse to enjoy a good time with the people she loved.

Jodi had a special passion for photography and considered herself an amateur photographer. Her camera and, later, her phone became a way for her to capture the people, places, and moments that meant the most to her. She took countless photographs throughout the years, filling photo albums with cherished memories while also keeping what seemed like a never-ending collection of pictures on her phone. To Jodi, these photographs were more than just pictures; they were memories frozen in time and reminders of the people and moments that made life special.

Above all else, Jodi was devoted to her family. They were the center of her world and the source of some of her greatest happiness. She especially treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, taking great joy in watching them grow, making memories with them, and capturing those special moments through her photographs. Her family will forever cherish the countless memories she created with them, as well as the photographs she left behind that will continue to tell the story of a life filled with love, laughter, and family.

Jodi will be remembered for her outgoing spirit, her contagious laughter, her love of having a good time, and, most importantly, the deep love she had for her family. Though she is no longer here to make new memories, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Jodi was preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, Lonnie Tifton Wingate, III; father, Joseph Smallwood; and sisters, Pam Ratteree and Vanna Smallwood.

Left to cherish Jodi’s memory are her sons, Joseph Austin Gay and Hunter Lee Wingate; mother, Susan McCarter Smallwood; grandchildren, Peyton Wingate and Lonnie B. Wingate, Jr.; stepson, Lonnie B. Wingate, Sr.; brother, Chris Walden; special family members, Taylor Story, Allen Jordan, and Chuck O'Neal, III; and numerous extended family members and friends.
