Joanne Snipes Dees

JoAnne Snipes Dees, 87, of Macon, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with Pastor, Jerry Garner officiating. Immediately following, Mrs. Dees will be laid to rest at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Dees was born on October 1, 1937, in Sumner, Georgia, to the late Mr. Joe Warren Snipes and Mrs. Doris Jolly Snipes and was raised in the small farming community of Shingler. Mrs. Dees was a homemaker that made a wonderful, loving home for her family. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was actively involved in several ministries. In her free time, Mrs. Dees enjoyed baking and tending to flower gardens.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dees was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John Gilbert Dees, Sr., and brother, Jimmy Snipes.
Left to cherish Mrs. Dees memory are her children, John Gilbert Dees, Jr., (Deborah), Andrea Bone (Harold), and Jeff Dees (Pamela); grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Nation, Joni Michelle Dees, Chance Thomas Brown (A.J.), Amanda Hope Brown, Chasen Layne Brown, Christy Power (Drew), Staci Bennett, Abby Lester (Jason), and Blake Dees; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Beth Wimberly (W.H.) and Sue Cashwell; brother, Gary Snipes (Pat); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the Sub-South Macon, Gibson Drive community, whose loving care for Mrs. Dees will forever be appreciated and remembered.
