Jimmy Hicks

Jimmy Hal Hicks Sr., 92, of Lizella, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025.
Born on January 24, 1933, in Lizella, Hal was a lifelong resident of the community he loved. He graduated from Lanier High School and attended Mercer University before answering the call to serve in the U.S. Army. After his military service, Hal began a long and dedicated career at Robins Air Force Base, where he worked in Item Management for 34 years. During that time, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Georgia College.
Hal is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Glenda Jarriel Hicks; his son, Jimmy Hal Hicks Jr. (Sherri); daughter, Jenny Lynn Odom; and brother, Ricky Hicks (Wynelle). He was a proud grandfather to Heather Lockhart (Joe) and Jake Hicks, and great-grandfather to Ava and Lexi Lockhart. Hal was also survived by sisters-in law Margie Williams (Glenn) and Martha Blair (Donald) and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Orris Hicks and Sara Marshall Hicks.
A devoted member of the Lizella community, Hal served as the Finance Chairman of Lizella Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was a charter member of the Lizella Recreation Club and an avid softball player for many years. He played Industrial League Softball with Robins AFB with their team winning the 1964 World Championship. In later years, he enjoyed cheering on the Atlanta Braves and, above all, spending time with his family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 19, 2025, at Lizella Methodist Church, where Hal was a faithful, lifelong member. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lizella Methodist Church.
