Jerry Hobbs

Jerry Lee Hobbs, a beloved resident of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023, after battling an extended illness. He was 76 years old. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, June 23, 2023. Jerry will be laid to rest in a private burial at Trail Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Cochran, GA. The honorable ceremony will be officiated by Rev Gabby Loyd. Jerry was a member of Henderson Road Baptist Church.
Jerry Lee Hobbs was born in Macon and was the sixth of nine children born to the late Eunie "Bud" Hobbs and Laverne Long Hobbs. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Jackson Hobbs, and all but one of his sisters.
Jerry had a distinguished career, retiring from Continental Can in Perry, Georgia, where he served for over 20 years, ensuring the smooth operation of their equipment. After his retirement from Continental Can, he opened his own business, Jerry's Appliance Repair on Mercer University Drive, which served the community until he fully retired.
During his younger years, Jerry proudly served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1971, bravely serving his country during the Vietnam War. His dedication and commitment to his military service were commendable.

Jerry Lee Hobbs is survived by his loving children, Steven (Kevin) and Daniel Hobbs, and his former wife, Margie Widener. He is also survived by his stepsons, Johnny Jackson Jr. and Randall Moseley, his sister Betty (Jack) Bass, and his cherished grandchildren, John Jackson III and Mandi (Jonathan) Layfield.

Jerry held a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, acting as a caring father figure to them. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and provided a welcoming home for those in need. His kind and compassionate nature endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jerry possessed a heart of gold.
