Jerry Gurka

Jerry Wayne Gurka, 72, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, where he was a resident for two years. He was formerly a resident of Jacksonville, Florida.
Born in New York, on May 28, 1944. He was a distinguished retired Navy Seal, a member of Navy Seal team 3, a 22 year veteran who served in the Vietnam War, where he was a POW for 9 Months.
During his service he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and many other commendations. Also Jerry was a former member of the Patriot Guard Riders.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Jeannette Campen Gurka (daughter of Robert and Frances Campen).
Services will be held in the Georgia Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia with military honors on Friday, October 15, 2016 at 2:30 p.m.
