Jerry Bufford Farmer, 79, of Lizella, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Jerry was born on January 18, 1947, in Clintwood, Virginia, to the late Mr. Woodrow Farmer and Ms. Irene Rakes. From an early age, Jerry developed the steady strength, quiet wisdom, and sense of duty that would define his life.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring after a distinguished career. His final assignment brought him to Warner Robins, Georgia, a place he would proudly call home. Never one to slow down, Jerry continued his life of service as a dedicated and loyal postal worker, from which he later retired.

Jerry was a man of many passions and even more virtues. He was a devoted family man, a trusted voice of reason, and someone who always seemed to “know all the answers.” Many said he should have been a doctor or a lawyer, as his advice was always sound and delivered with calm confidence. He lived by simple truths, often reminding those he loved, “Everything’s gonna be alright,” and “If you’re gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.”

He enjoyed coin collecting, loved traveling to the mountains, especially Germany and Pigeon Forge, and was a faithful fan of the Atlanta Braves and Falcons football. Jerry appreciated the simple pleasures of life, a good steak and potatoes, a quiet moment, and time spent with those he loved. He was known as handsome, gentle, kind, strong, and stern when needed, a man whose presence brought comfort and stability to everyone around him.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Farmer, and his son, Mike Prather.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 40 years, Marjorie Rowland Farmer; his daughters, Camden (Lucas) Shell and Denise Prather; his sister, Lola Light; his grandchildren, Toni (Josh) Price, Michael (Holly) Prather, and Megan (Cody) Peck; and his great-grandchildren, Kaylin Prather and Kaiden Morris.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at FairHaven Funeral Home.

Jerry Bufford Farmer leaves behind a legacy of service, love, wisdom, and unwavering strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
