Jerry Collins

September 2, 1929 — May 18, 2018

Jerry Phil Collins, 88 , of Byron passed away peacefully at his residence Friday, May 18, 2018 surrounded by loving family and friends. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomaston Road Church of Christ, Minister Rob Robinson will officiate. Immediately following the service, Jerry will be entombed at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Jerry was born September 2, 1929 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late George Clifton "Buckshot" and Mary Wood Collins. He proudly served our country in the United States National Guard. After his time in the service, Jerry began a 39 year career at Robins Air Force base working as an equipment specialist. He was an extremely hard worker, taking on a second career, opening his own business, Jerrys Plumbing and Repair. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed anything outdoors, camping, fishing, farming, and hosting family fish fries. Six days a week, Jerry could be found with his fellow member of the ROMEO club of Byron at Krystal or Hardees, laughing and talking. He was a faithful member of the Thomaston Road Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for over 50 years. Above everything, family meant the world to Jerry and he was by far his happiest when he was spending time with them.
Jerry was greeted in heaven by his parents as well as his loving wife of 63 ½ years, Bobby Partain Collins and two brothers; Kenneth Collins and his wife Jenny as well as George Anthony "Andy" Collins, Sr.
Left to carry on his memory is his loving family. Daughters; Jerri Lynn Collins and Tara Leigh Collins Stokes (Tater). Two grandchildren; Savannah Grace Long and Evan Lee Strawhorn. Two brothers; Lawrence C. Collins (Charlotte) and William Howard Collins (Bonnie). Along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their sincere Thanks to Jerrys sister-in-law, Mavis Partain, for the care she provided Jerry and Bobby during their final days. Along with Homestead Hospice of Warner Robins.
