Jean-Philip Marais, 41, of Thomaston, GA passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain Gap Church in The Rock, Georgia. Pastor John Price will officiate. Services will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page for his global family and friends.
Jean was born on April 27, 1981, in Ladysmith, South Africa to Phillip Marais and Sandra Bekker. Jean and his wife, Heidi, met in Melmoth, South Africa, where they quickly fell in love. They decided to immigrate to the US. On March 25, 2016, they formed a wonderful marriage, together raising their children, Kimberlyn, Adam, and Sandra Lynn who were the light of his life. When he wasn't playing with the kids, Jean loved to smoke meats, watch UFC, and spend time talking with his wife. At the time of his passing he was employed as a stitch operator for Quad Graphics.
Jean was preceded in death by his father; Phillip Marais and brother-in-law; Timothy Newberry.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving family. His wife; Heidi Newberry Marais. Children; Cullen (11 of South Africa), Kimberlyn, Adam, and Sandra Lynn Marais. Jean was loved by many, and he will truly be missed.
