James “Jim” Roy White, 83, of Macon, Georgia, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Byron Baptist Church. The family invites friends to join them one hour prior to the service for a time of visitation. Immediately following the service, Jim will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Ryan Maddox will officiate all services.
Jim was born on January 9, 1943, in Hillsboro, Georgia, to the late Mr. Alvin Ramsey White Sr. and Mrs. Carrie Lee White.
Jim lived a life defined by faith, service, devotion, and love for others. A devoted born-again Christian, his relationship with the Lord was the foundation of his life and shaped the way he loved, served, and encouraged those around him. He faithfully attended church, cherished Bible study, and found great joy in fellowship with fellow believers. His faith was not simply something he spoke about, it was evident in the way he lived each day.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was inducted into the Navy on March 31, 1960, beginning a distinguished military career that would lead to his retirement as a Chief Petty Officer. He carried tremendous pride in his service and formed lifelong friendships through his years in uniform. Even after retirement, Jim remained connected to the military community through Fleet Reserve functions and enjoyed gathering regularly with fellow retirees for breakfast and fellowship.
One of Jim’s greatest passions was gospel music. Alongside his beloved wife, Marietta, he shared his faith through music as they sang together in the gospel group, “Pressing On.” Their ministry and music touched many lives and created cherished memories for all who heard them. Jim also enjoyed spending time fishing, sharing stories with friends, and settling in to watch classic westerns, simple moments that brought him great happiness.
Above all, Jim treasured his family and valued the relationships God placed in his life. He will be remembered as a man of deep conviction, steady faith, kindhearted spirit, and unwavering love.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Marietta White; his brother, Al Ramsey White Jr.; and his sister, Charlene.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, James Randall White and Harlan White (Tracey); his daughter, Christie Andrews (Tom); his grandchildren, Ryan White, Nicholas White, and Landon White; his great-grandchild, Riley White; his close family friend, Susan Lanthrip; along with many extended family members, church family, military friends, and countless others whose lives were blessed by knowing him.
While his family grieves his absence, they rejoice in the assurance that Jim’s faith has become sight and that he now rests in the presence of his Savior. His legacy of faith, service, love, and steadfast devotion will continue for generations to come.
