James Edwin Swords, 82, of Macon, passed away at his residence on Monday, October 28, 2024. The family will have a time of visitation on Thursday, October 31, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd, Macon, Ga, 31216. Funeral Services to honor his life will be held on Friday, November 1, at 3:00 p.m. EST/2:00 p.m. CST at Corinth Baptist Church on Rose Road in Albertville, Alabama where Mr. Swords will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
Mr. Swords was born on October 1, 1942, in Albertville, Alabama, to the late Mr. David Andrew Swords and Mrs. Rosie Bell Riddle Swords. He retired from Leeds Building Products after 30 plus years of service where he worked as their southeastern regional sales manager. In his free time, Mr. Swords loved working with his hands, as he was the ultimate craftsman. He was an avid NASCAR fan and University of Alabama football, "ROLL TIDE ROLL!"
In addition to his parents, Mr. Swords was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Coe Swords and brother, Rayford Swords.
Mr. Swords is survived by his daughter, Rachel Pennington; two granddaughters, Katelyn (Ronnie) Barton and Jamie (Taylor) Davis; two grandsons, Justin Ennis & Chad Ennis; five great-grandchildren, Nathan, Landyn, & Addison Barton, Madison Wealot, and Tucker James Davis; sister, Janice Swords; brother, Randall Swords; and many nieces and nephews.
