Jim Ryals, 79, went home to the arms of Jesus on November 7, 2023, after a brief illness. A visitation will be held on Friday November 10, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at FairHaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 11, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Sizemore officiating. Burial to follow at Macon Memorial Park.
Jim was born on October 20, 1944, in Macon, GA, to the late Mary and James Ryals Sr. He was retired from the US Post Office in Lizella, GA. Jim had a love of classic cars and was a member of the Middle Georgia Cruisers, Southern Classic Cruisers, and the Macon Motorboat Club. He was also on the board of directors for the Porter Ellis Center.
In his spare time, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Jody Ryals; brothers, Billy, and Donnie Ryals; sister, Pat Rogers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 56 years, Janie Pelt Ryals; son, James "Jay" Ryals III; grandchildren: Jennifer Schmitz (Elliott), James "Josh" Ryals IV (Tiffany), Jesica Hilliard (Christien), and Jace Ryals; great-grandchildren: Rylee and Rhett Schmitz; Mariana, Evelina, and Weston Ryals; and Colter Hilliard; sister, Lynda Stone; special niece Amy Stone-Jones "Peanut", along with many other nieces and nephews.
