Mr. Pittman was born June 10, 1944, in Rhine, Georgia to the late Mr. Joe Brown Pittman and Mrs. Catherine Williams Lowery. He was a Pharmacy Transport for Triad Isotopes for many years before retiring. Mr. James and his wife, Pat were beloved members of Greenwood Baptist Church. Together, they faithfully attended Sunday school and built many lasting friendships within the church community. Known for his love of fishing, traveling to the mountains and beach, and always making time for a new Walmart stop, Mr. James embraced life's simple joys. He found comfort in watching old westerns, a pastime that brought him peace. Though a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes about his character. He was the epitome of devotion, kindness, and hard work—always putting others first. Mr. James and Pat shared a love that was an enduring example of unconditional care and support, and their bond was a true testament to everlasting love. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and the unwavering love he showed to those around him. He was the Patriarch of his family, and his legacy will be felt for generations to come.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Jerry Collins.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 42 years, Patricia DeLashmitt Pittman; daughter, Kimberly Ingle (Mitch), Sherian Miller (Travis), Rhonda Roberts; sons, Jay Pittman (Bob) and Robby Collins (Jeni); sister, Linda Estes (Steve); grandchildren, Macy, Branson, Amber, Christen, Andrew, Sidney, Alex, Brent, Chandler, Tyler; 11 great grandchildren; and many others who will remember him as Papa James.
