James A. Maye, 80, of Macon, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 18,, 2017. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will have a time of visitation from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2017 in Fairhaven Funeral Home.
Born in Byron, he was the son of the late Robert E. Maye and Bernice Caroll Maye. He was a retired Sargent from the Macon Police Department with 19 years of service. He was also a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Maye was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, and the High Priest Group on Williamson Road, Macon. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy and Bobby Maye.
After retirement, he was a member of Fraternal Order of Police, W.L. "Sparky" O'Cain Lodge # 3 and the National Rifle Association. Also he loved to travel, camping and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jean Maye, daughters, Vicki Maye Dunn (James) of Macon, Lisa Stanford (Quitman) of Gray, Sons, Ronnie Malcom (Jean) of Gray, Steve Malcom(Donna) of Macon. Sister, Diane Sheppard (Alan) of Sandersville. Brothers, Calvin Maye (Gail) of North Carolina, David Maye(Linda) of Warner Robins. Sisters in law, Linda Tucker (Jerry) of Lawrenceville, and Judy Maye. Brothers in law, Bobby Young of Macon, and Charles Young (Ann) of Madison. 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his dog, Daisy.
