Jim attended Crawford County Schools before joining the U.S. Marines. Later, he was a Bibb County Police Officer for a period of time. Jim was a great mechanic and was later employed at Robins Air Force Base for many years. His daughter and grandchildren were his world; he was very proud and would tell them so all the time. He very much enjoyed watching Nascar, wrestling and baseball on television, but especially loved watching his grandson play baseball.
Mr. Grant was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. Philo D. Grant, Jr and Mrs. Christine Grant. Also preceding him in death was a brother: Philo D. Grant, III.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Jennifer Deaton (Randall), grandchildren: Nicholas Peavy, Mackenzie Peavy and Andrea Deaton. Also remembering Jim is a brother: Ronnie Grant; sisters: Gail Merricks, Penny McElheny (Charles) and Christine Grant; many nieces and nephews; his caretaker Debbie Boatwright and Lacy his dog. Jim was a fun-loving guy who was known for goofing around and playing jokes on people. He had a personality that made it so you couldn't help but have fun with him. He enjoyed life and making people smile. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
