James Randy Flanders, 73, of Macon, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, December 8, 2016. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home. The family will have a time of visitation and viewing from 1:00 p.m. till service time on Monday in the funeral home. Reverend Joe McDaniel will officiate.
Born in Macon, he was the son of the late James R. Flanders and Louise Collins Flanders Lee. He was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Flanders.
Randy was a graduate of Willingham High School in Macon and he served his country four years in the U.S. Air Force and later retired after 29 years from the Air National Guard. He also retired after 38 years with Southern Bell , AT&T. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club, working on many projects over the years and enjoyed monthly breakfast meetings with fellow retirees.
Golf was his passion, he was a member of the Middle Georgia Senior Golf Association and loved playing regularly with his brothers and buddies. He was a member of the Musella Hunting Club and loved sitting in a deer stand watching the sun rise and set and all the critters that came by.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia Plemmons Flanders, two daughters, Marnie Flanders of Macon and Kelly Flanders and grandson, Kai Flanders Palmer, both of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
He is also survived by his mother, Louise Collins Flanders Lee of Byron, Ga.; two brothers, Jack Flanders (Carolyn) of Byron, Ga. and Mike Flanders (Shirley) of Lizella, Georgia.
