James Crider

September 3, 1922 — May 2, 2018

James Otis "Buck" Crider, 95, of Lizella, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Reverends Lee Griffin and Micah Carr will officiate. Immediately following, he will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will have a time of visitation to greet friends Friday, May 4, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home.
Buck loved God and his country and proudly served in the United States Army. He later worked as a sewing machine mechanic for several years at Happ Manufacturing. After retiring from, Happ, he opened his own business, Crider Sewing Machine, and actively worked until a year ago. He enjoyed repairing sewing machines, loved being outside working in his garden or enjoyed sports. Buck was an active member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Senior Men's class. He was known by many as "The chewing gum man". Buck loved to drive the church bus, which he did for many years, so the children could come and learn about Jesus. He was a hardworking man of God, a loving husband, father and Pawpaw who always provided for his family. Above everything else he loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Minnie Crider, an infant son James Lamar Crider, as well as his 13 siblings.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 72 years; Ella Mae Crider. Two children: Marsha Lineberger (Wayne) and Donald Crider. Two grandchildren: Lori Garnto (Daniel) and Shawn Lineberger (Brandy), as well as two great grandchildren: Gage Garnto and Kenzie Lineberger.
The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to his caregivers, Kim Powell and Kimberly Guthrie for the love, care, and support they have shown. Also to Kindred Hospice for the love they gave Buck during his final days.
