James Cranford

February 9, 1941 — July 10, 2018

James "Heyward" Cranford, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, after an extended illness. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 14 at 11:00 AM in Union Chapel Evangelistic Church, on Marion Road, with his brother-in-law Rev. Billy Lowe officiating.
Heyward was born February 9, 1941 in Bibb County, GA to the late Evelyn and Jack Cranford. He served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Yorktown and the USS Sampson. Later, he retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base. Upon retirement, he enjoyed planting a garden and sharing the harvest with family and friends.
Mr. Cranford is preceded in death by brothers, Larry Cranford, and Jackie Cranford, sister Joyce Adams and daughters Cindy Cranford and Rhonda Copeland.
He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Cranford, sister Wynelle Spivey, brother Wayne Cranford (Dot), daughters Diane Ward (Warren), Rachel Herrington and son Keith Cranford, grandchildren: Katie Ward and Jacob Ward, great-grandchildren: Noah Cranford, Wyatt Cranford, Aiden Cranford, Kaelyn Herrington, and Kenadi Herrington.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Union Chapel Evangelistic Church or Heartland Hospice.
