James Taylor Amason, Jr., 80, of Macon passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side, Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Funeral Services to honor his life will be held Friday, August 26, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Macon with the Pastor Dr. Dan Hall officiating. Immediately following the service Mr. Amason will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will have a time of visitation to greet friends Thursday, August 25 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born in Macon, Georgia to the late James Taylor Amason, Sr. and Dorothy Smith Amason, James proudly served our country in the Unites States Army. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member at Bethel Baptist Church in Lizella where he was involved with the Sunday School Class. Mr. Amason faithfully served the residents of Macon and Bibb County as a Police Officer, and retired after a faithful 25 years. He was active with the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #3.
James was preceded in death by his parents, as well as one Step-Son; Dennis Trotter.
Left to cherish his memory is his adoring wife; Jewel Amason. Three Step-Sons; Johnny Trotter (Melanie), William Trotter (Angie) and Roger Trotter. Along with Several Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
