Irene Mccormick

Irene "Oskie" Moore McCormick, 96, passed away peacefully June 15,2018. Irene was a native of Macon and a lifelong member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church. She graduated from Mount De Sales Academy and worked at Robins Air Force Base for 31 years. She received numerous certificates of appreciation and awards for her work.
Irene was devoted to her family and friends. She was the daughter of the late Earnest Lee Moore,Sr. and Irene McAuley Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas W. McCormick, Sr., her sisters; Melba Moore Walker, Macie L. Moore Roberts and her brother Dr. Ernest Lee Moore, Jr. She is survived by her two sons, Thomas W. McCormick, Jr. (Renee), (Clay) and son Robert A. McCormick, Sr. Grandsons (Robert, Kyle), (Charlie), (Thomas, Lauren) and many nieces and nephews.
Irene dearly loved spending time in her garden. She had a green thumb like her mother. She worked with her flowers and plants of all kinds, especially her McAuley Geraniums which her mother crafted. She also enjoyed hummingbirds that came to her flowers and feeders.
A memorial service will be held at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. At 11:00 a.m. Reverend Creede Hinshaw and Reverend Dr. Matt Woodbery will officiate the ceremony. Visitation will follow the memorial service in the church parlor. Graveside services are private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Donor's favorite charity.
