Hortense Edge

Hortense Butler Edge, 89, of Macon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 24, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with Pastor, Ed Chambless officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, December 27, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Edge was born on February 7, 1934, in Wheeler County, Georgia to the late William E. Butler and Mrs. Joanna Rowland Butler. She was a member of Mikado Baptist Church for 40 plus years. Mrs. Edge was a homemaker, providing a loving home for her husband and her sons. She spent much of her free time sewing, playing word search and crossword games, putting puzzles together, working in the yard when she was able, and most importantly, reading her Bible.

Mrs. Edge was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Earl Edge and 7 siblings.

Mrs. Edge is survived by her sons, Warren Edge (Kelly), Derwin Edge, and Darrell Edge (Angie); two grandchildren, Amber Merritt (Andy) and Casey Watson (Brandon), three great-grandchildren, Trae Merritt, Tennely Merritt, and Maverick Watson; brother, Edsel Butler (Dorothy), Littleton, CO.; and many nieces and nephews.
