Hazel S. Collins, 95, of Lizella, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. A home going celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 25, at 1:00 PM at First Evangelical Church with the Reverend Tim Long officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Collins was born on July 30, 1926, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Benjamin Franklin Smith and Maude Parker Smith. She retired from Bellsouth after 20 years of service, but she was best known for her smiling face and joyful personality as the greeter at McDonalds on Hartley Bridge Rd. Mrs. Collins was a faithful member of First Evangelical Church. She loved her Jesus, her church, her family, and anyone she encountered. Mrs. Collins prayed fervently, for her family, for strangers, and even God's creatures, animals. She was an avid reader and puzzler. Mrs. Collins will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert James Collins; son, Sidney Collins; and eight siblings.
Left to cherish Mrs. Collins memory is her daughter, Sylvia E. Rowland (Don); granddaughters, Pam Amerson and Amy Norris; great-grandsons, Craig Arnold (Cheri) and Will Amerson; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
