Master Sergeant Harrie L Annis, USAF (Ret.), 92, was called home on October 29, 2024, to be with his Lord and Savior and reunited with his wife of 66 years, Jean. He was born on April 26,1932, to James Bradford Annis, Sr. and Dora Mae Nelson Annis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
Harrie is survived by two sons James Annis, Tim Annis (Ann), daughter Wendy Meeks (Emory), 8 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister Edna Padgett.
Harrie was devoted to his faith as a husband, father, deacon, Gideon, and Sunday school teacher and was deeply concerned about others salvation and well-being. He was generous with his giving to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He had a deep passion for providing for various ministries and organizations that provided meals and food to those in need. He was a long-time member of Porterfield Baptist Church serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years.
Harrie served his country honorably for 20 years in both the Army and Air Force and then as a 30-year civil servant working as an aircraft mechanic on C-130s. His hobbies, which he was able to do until his late 80s, were golf - especially looking for golf balls and gardening. He loved sharing the best tomatoes from his backyard garden with friends and family.
We are grateful for the many years God granted him on this earth.
