Gwendolyn Bass Stafford, 66, of Byron passed away peacefully, Saturday July 16, 2016. Gwen joined her loving husband Sam, who went to prepare Heaven just 3 short weeks before her. Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be held, Wednesday, July 20 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Shearin officiating. Interment will be immediately following in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will have a time of visitation to greet friends, Tuesday night from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born in McRae, Georgia to Donald and Frances Bass, Gwen was retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company where she worked as a Primary Technician. Gwen was a member of Avondale Baptist Church and grew up playing church league softball. She loved the beach and spending time with her family while on vacation. Gwen could often be found sitting on her porch and enjoying the outdoors, or fishing with her beloved husband, Sam.
Gwen was preceded in death by her father, Donald Bass, and her husband whom she had just celebrated 46 years of marriage with, Samuel N. Stafford.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters; Kimberly West (Glenn) and Alisha Davis (Matt), Mother; Frances Bass, Grandchildren; Haley West, Samantha Oller, Alexis Oller, Kassie Watkins, and Leighann Davis. Sisters; Pat Christenberry (Ken), Brenda Smith (Bill), Donna Hemphill (Everett), and Diane Greene (Mike). But she will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
