Gregory Bascom Summers, 71, of Byron, Georgia passed away peacefully on Monday May 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service to honor his life will be 10:00 AM Thursday May 29, 2025, at New Elim Baptist Church. The family invites guests to join them one hour prior to services for a time of visitation. Pastor Johnny Baggett will officiate all services.
Mr. Gregory was born Mach 29, 1954 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Mr. Henry Edgar Summers and Mrs. Lillie McCollum Summers. He lived a life full of laughter, adventure, and love, a man whose presence lit up every room and whose heart was deeply rooted in family. He found joy in the simple pleasures, casting a line on a quiet lake, hunting in the early morning light, or hitting the golf course with a smile and his trademark charm. Gregory was never happier than when he was surrounded by his grandchildren, patiently teaching them the skills he cherished, whether it was how to fish, hunt, or simply enjoy the beauty of nature. Vacations with his family, especially near the water he so adored, were the moments he held most dearly. With his quick wit, infectious humor, and signature catchphrase "Bite Me," Gregory left a legacy of laughter and love. Helpful, caring, and endlessly charismatic, he will always be remembered as a man who gave his all to those he loved, especially his family, who meant everything to him.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Raymond Summers and sister, Cheryl White.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, of 34 years, Lisa Summers; son, Matt (Brooke) Summers; daughter, Tabatha (Jason) Moore; brother, John Summers; sister, Janette (Jim) Jacoby; grandchildren, Caleb Watson, Lillie Summers, Brandon Durden, Dylan Durden, Johnathan Summers, Chandler Moore, Chase Moore, Juliana Moore, Maleia Summers; and many extended family.
