Gregory Steven Chancellor was born in Macon, Georgia, March 31, 1961 and, after a sudden illness, passed peacefully from this life in the early morning hours of May 13, 2023. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will accept friends 1 hour prior at Fairhaven Funeral Home for a time of visitation. The cherished son of Annabel Crouch and William A. Chancellor, Jr., he lived in Macon his entire life. Greg was a kind, gentle and quiet soul who was loved by many and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He was gifted as a guitarist and had a great passion for many types of music and could name the artist and lyrics of most any song. An avid fan of many movies and actors, he was familiar with most. Though he could never see it himself, he was always amused by the number of people who compared his looks to actor Sam Elliott.
Greg loved the outdoors and spent much of his life meticulously caring for lawns and yards for both residential and commercial properties. He owned Lawns by Greg and worked primarily in the Rutland area and south Bibb County for the last several years. Greg was a former member of Pipefitters and Plumbers Union formerly Local 472.
Greg was predeceased by parents, Annabel Lee and William A. Chancellor, Jr, grandparents, Miona Murchison and William A. Chancellor, Sr, of Macon, Isabel Thompson and Laurence Crouch, of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, niece, Miona Liane Gordon, brother-in-law, Hal Arrington. He is survived by siblings, Judy Arrington of Scotland Neck, North Carolina, Miona Chancellor Gordon (Bobby) and Tina Chancellor Longo (Todd) of Macon. Also survived by his beloved kitty, Thumper.
Greg will be sorely missed by many. Please pray for Greg and our family.
The family will greet family and friends on Wednesday, May 17, from 1:00 to 1:45 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd, Macon, followed by graveside services at 2:00 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens at 7070 Houston Rd, Macon
