Gloria Dianne Lang

January 22, 1939 — August 4, 2024

Gloria Dianne Brown Lang, 85, of Macon, passed away on August 4, 2024, after succumbing to the passage of time. Burial services will be private.

Dianne Lang was born on January 22, 1939, in Vienna, Georgia, to the late Obie Lee Brown and Annie Ruth Lamberth Brown. She graduated from A. L. Miller High School in Macon in 1958. Her career included stints as a telephone operator with Southern Bell, a teaching assistant with Redding Elementary School (Lizella), and a bookkeeper for Kennedy's Drugs. She served honorably for nearly sixty-five years as a mother but declined to include this engagement on her resume because she said she was never paid for her time. Debate remains on whether she regarded cooking as a joy or a chore, but either way, she was damn good at it. When not attending to her five children and three grandchildren, she enjoyed reading, canning, crafts, quilting, and sewing, including making costumes for staff at Indian Mounds (she owned more scissors than what most people count in forks and spoons). In her twilight years, she made blankets and donated them to newborns at The Children's Hospital of Macon. She loved watching the Atlanta Braves and munching on M&Ms.

Mrs. Lang was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jacobs Eugene "Gene" Lang (1937-2024), her siblings Bobby Dean Brown, Mary Jean Brown Register, Ira Stanley Brown, and Thomas Edwin Brown, and her son, David Kyle Lang.

She is survived by her children, Gregory E. Lang (Jill Parris Lang, Meagan Sheahan, Linley Dunn), Joel Kevin Lang (Diane Lang, Joshua Hoose, Dani Williams), Jody Derrick Lang, and Jennifer Gayle Lang (Beryl Regula, Jessica Regula, Goston Watson); great-grandchildren, Harper Grace Sheahan, Sutton Avery Sheahan, and a third expected in November; and her sisters, Sandra Lee Brown Kennedy (Macon) and Elaine Brown Brown (Sandersville), as well as her sisters-in-law Olivia June Lang Johnson (Macon) and Betty Sue Mauldin Lang (Lizella).
