Burke "Gibson" Whitehurst Jr., went to be with his Lord on Monday, July 22, 2024. A private committal service will take place at Elam Baptist Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Saturday July 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM at High Point Church; 2963 Hollis Rd Macon, GA 31206; Pastor Trey Dickerson will officiate; and all are encouraged to attend.
Gibson was born on February 23, 1959, in Macon, Georgia to Ms. Mary G. Whitehurst and the late Mr. Burke Gibson Whitehurst, Sr.
Gibson was a devoted Christian who loved his Lord; he attended services regularly at High Point Church in Macon. He was a 1977 graduate of Jones County High School and went on to study at Mercer University. Gibson was a successful entrepreneur. He was the owner partner of The Macon Casket Company and Statesboro Casket Company for 39 years and the former owner of Mad Co Auto Sales and Re-builders.
Gibson is survived by his mother, Mary G. Whitehurst; sisters, Ellie (Herb) Pennington, Gail Funderburk, Carol (Frank) Wylie; brother, Martin (Susan) Whitehurst and many nephews and nieces.
