Gerald Edward Butterworth, 75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2019. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Vineville Baptist Church, the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Dr. William Hardee will officiate. Immediately following the service, Gerald will be laid to rest in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gerald was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia on January 20, 1944. In the early 1970's, he worked for the Bibb County Sheriff's Department. He played several roles there, and was extremely proud of his service with them. Some of his job titles included working with the SWAT team, the Drug Squad, and taught the Jr. Deputies at local schools. After his time with Bibb County, he went on to work with AAA Cooper Transportation where he retired as the Director of Sales. In his free time, Gerald loved to Golf, that was his passion. He was a member of Brickyard Golf Club. He also had a love for guns, and was a member of the Ocmulgee Gun Club. Gerald also raised prize winning paint horses and bird dogs.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife; Patricia Pettis Walters, daughters; Dana Sconyers (Walt) and Kimberly Hogan (Bill). Step sons; Darren W. Pettis (Becky) and Michael S. Pettis (Dana). Grandchildren; Dustin Hardin (Alison), Emily Howell (Danny), Olivia Sconyers, Jordan Stewart (Rachael-Anne), Sydnee Sconyers, James Munroe. Step Grandchildren; Lindsey N. Pettis, Cameron A. Pettis, Hunter S. Pettis, and Holly M. Pettis. Great Grandchildren; Georgia, Henlee, and Daly, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
