Tech Sargent George Lester Mason, 98, of Macon, Georgia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Daystar Church of God, 5874 Wesleyan Drive North, Macon, Georgia 31210. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning one hour prior to the service; Immediately following the service, Mr. Mason will be laid to rest with military honors at Rose Hill Cemetery. Reverand Robby Shephard will be officiating all services.
George was born on December 11, 1927, in Flat Creek, Alabama, to the late Charlie Mason and Elise “Flippo” Mason. A man of deep faith, George loved the Lord and served Him faithfully throughout his life as a Sunday School teacher and devoted church member.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, from which he later retired. A true craftsman, George was an exceptional carpenter who built his own home, other houses, and even a church. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued his strong work ethic as a postal worker, serving his community with dedication.
George had a lifelong love of the outdoors and adventure. He enjoyed traveling and made it a priority to take his children on weekend trips wherever the military stationed them, believing deeply in shared experiences and family memories. One of his most treasured accomplishments was climbing Mount Fuji with his daughters. He also had a passion for geology and rock collecting, as well as genealogy, carefully preserving family history for generations to come.
Known for his warm smile and kind spirit, George was a hard worker, a gentle teacher, and a man who never met a stranger. His joy, curiosity, and unwavering kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sisters, Faye Debose, Elizabeth Mason, and Sue Gaddy; his brothers, Clarence Mason, Charlis Mason, Jesse Mason, and James Mason; and his son-in-law, Clyde Harper.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 77 years, Jeanine Mason; his daughters, Sherry Mason, Tara Harper, and Anitra Mason; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who were blessed by his life.
George Lester Mason lived a life of faith, service, and love , a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
