Gary Lamar Tucker, 71, of Monroe County, and the youngest of 10 siblings, won his battle with Cancer and went home to be with Jesus on Monday, December 19th 2016. Mr. Tucker has been one of Middle GA's most beloved and desired Master Gunsmiths for over 50 years. Gary loved his work and fulfilled his dream of opening a gun shop, Ventures Guns & Stuff, LLC in Bolingbroke in 2010, serving the wonderful folks of Monroe, Bibb and other surrounding counties, as well as patrons from around the nation, and carried the business with daughter Laura, always using his slogan, " It's not just about Guns... It's about FREEDOM! Molan Labe!"
Mr. Tucker has been an honored Veteran of the US Navy, serving on the USS Newport News, and the US Air Force National Guard. He was also a Shriner and a Mason.
He has always been a man of his convictions. He loved and professed Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, truly loved this country and was quoted as being "a TRUE patriot". He loved and honored this country until his last day. He also adored his brothers and friends of his Al Sihah Shrine in Macon and of his Brothers in the Masonic Lodge in Macon, Mabel Lodge as well as all of his "Brethren in Arms" Veterans serving past, present and future. Gary was a lifelong hunter and was a lifetime member of the NRA, Friends of the NRA, a recruiter for the NRA, Member of Oath-Keepers and numerous other Clubs and Associations. He was a Firearms Instructor and taught Shooting Sports and Clay shooting to children as well as worked diligently in competing himself before his sickness. Aside from the dedication and love he had for this country, he "loved his girls, his guns and his "Linder" (wife)! He is survived by his Wife, Linda L. Tucker, Daughters, Julie G. Usher-(Grand-Children-Gary S Tucker, Markus G Sharpe and Mary Faith Goodwin, Great Grand-Child, Gabriel Lee Tucker), daughter Laura K Giles- (Grand-Child- Tyler X Giles & Laura's Fiance' R. Derrick Adams), his youngest daughter Rebecca Tucker, and step-son Jimmy Sears, brothers and sisters, Jeanette Otto, Delores Hester, James (Helen) Tucker, Joyce Omo, Franklin Sullivan, and Larry (Linda) Tucker. He has many adopted children that he also loved dearly and claimed as his own. John and Melanie Gay, Marcus Powers, Nicole Puello and Jeremy and Brandi West.
He was proceeded in death by his Mother and Father, Howard and Gracie (Anderson) Tucker, a daughter, Crystal Deneice Tucker, and brothers and sisters that have gone home before him, Margaret (Roman) Hicks, Robert (Louise) Tucker, Jack Tucker, Joann Sullivan, Hansel Hester, Jim Omo & Raymond Otto.
Known by his sweetheart Linda, as "Sweet Man" and by his children as "Daddy", "Dad", "Papi" and "Pops", his grand-children, "Grand-Dad" and "Grand-Daddy" and most of all, as "Brother" and Friend", he will be missed more than any of our hearts can fathom!
His Viewing will be held Thursday, December 22nd , 2016 from 6-8pm with the Funeral Service on Friday, December 23rd , 2016, at 11am, at FairHaven Funeral Home on Mt Pleasant Church Rd. (Hartley Bridge), with Burial, Honor Guard and Masonic Rites Ceremony held at Glen Haven Memorial on Houston Rd. in Macon.
In lieu of flowers, Gary requested that donations be made to the Masonic Children's Home or the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
After the burial, the family will be gathered with friends at New Elim Baptist Church (Hartley Bridge Road) for fellowship and food. Any food donations should be taken to New Elim by 9:30am on Friday morning.
