Fred Lee Purvis: 85, of Macon, Georgia passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Avondale Baptist Church with burial to follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Reverend Marty Watson will officiate.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 4, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. in Fairhaven Funeral Home.
Born in Laurens County, he was the son of the late Elbert Billy Purvis and Mattie White Purvis. He was a member of the Avondale Baptist Church, and retired from Armstrong World Industries after 32 years of service.
Mr. Purvis was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Lee Purvis and Ronald Alan Purvis; and his siblings, Ed Purvis, Clifford Purvis, Walter Purvis, Eva Blount, Nelson Purvis, Ray Purvis and Wade Purvis.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Jones Purvis of Macon; Daughter, Debbie Hartley(Bob) of Macon; Brothers, Billy Purvis, Tommy Purvis(Frances), Don Purvis(Mildred), all of Alamo, Ga.; Sisters, Geneva Hulett (Dupree) of Macon, Martha Stovall(Clinton) of Alamo, Ga. Grandchildren, Brooke Herndon, Brittany Hartley, Lee Purvis, Shelby Hall(Daniel), Heartly Purvis. Great grandchildren, Aubrey Herndon, and Layla Hall.
Flowers are appreciated but Memorial may be made to Gentiva Hospice or Avondale Baptist Church.
