Frank Miller
July 7, 1940 — April 14, 2025
Lizella, GA – Frank Eugene Miller, 84, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 7, 1940, to Frank B. & Mattie C. Miller. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, friend and beloved member of the Crawford County community. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia. He is survived by his brother: Reginald (Recie) Miller; children: Jeffrey (Sherry) Miller, Antoinette (Tyrie) White, Maria (Kenny) Barrow, Monica Miller, and Michele (David) Scarborough; grandchildren: Kenyana, Shamar, Jara, Kenneth Jr, Tyrie Jr, Isaiah, Princess, Tyra, Devin, Noah, Riley, Samantha and great grandchildren: My'Onah, Ja'Nyis, Kenneth III, Greyson and Rare.
Frank attended West Philadelphia High School and pursued a degree in General Studies Bachelor's degree at Lincoln University. While attending college, he served in the Army as a Radioisotope Technician and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal. He was hired at General Motors Company as one of the first African American Part Plant Supervisors. While working as a Supervisor for GM, he attended Electrician School. To qualify to take the New Jersey State Electrical certification test, Frank had to complete a four-year apprenticeship under the stewardship of his Uncle Fred Miller. After completing his apprenticeship, he became a certified electrical journeyman. This enabled him to qualify for the New Jersey Board of Electrical Contractors exam, which he successfully passed. For many years he worked as a Supervisor and Electrician. His work ethic, and his desire to accomplish anything he put his mind to, speak volumes to his character. After nearly 20 years with General Motors Company, he and the love of his life Patricia relocated to Crawford County, Georgia.
He was an established self-employed Electrician and Electrical Inspector in the state of Georgia before retiring to become Crawford County's Planning and Zoning Administrator in 2008. He was well-respected and known to serve the community with honesty, integrity and compassion for many years before retiring in 2017.
He was a true character, known for his quick-witted humor, he could easily fill the room with laughter. He was the king of jokes; he even dabbled, a little, in corny dad jokes. He always found a way to brighten even the darkest days with his unique sense of humor. With a heart full of purpose and compassion, you could always find him lending a hand as he was proud of his ability to stay active and give back to the community. His dedication was unwavering, and his presence made every effort feel more meaningful. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, gardening, and reading electrical code books. Yet what mattered most to him was his family legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion.
