Frances "Jane" Sanders passed away peacefully at her home on July 24, 2023 in Macon, GA at the age of 88 surrounded by her loving husband, Robert. Jane was born in Jacksonville, FL on June 4, 1935, the daughter of Charles and Bessie Meeks Luthie of Macon, GA. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Bessie Meeks Luthie of Macon, GA, sister Ann (Jack) Wise of Metairie LA, and daughter Frances "Baby Jane" Sanders of Jacksonville, FL. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Robert Eugene Sanders and five children Darlene (William) Bryson of Newton, MA, Melissa(Kevin)Frances of Macon, GA, Robert (Jane) Sanders formerly of McDonough, GA, Douglas(Andrea) Sanders of Smyrna, Ga, and Angela (Keith) Michlig of Leesburg, GA. Beloved grandmother of Shannon Bryson Yerardi, Amie Bryson, Kelley Bryson Torcasio, Billy Bryson, Meagan Bryson, Heather Schexnayder Overman, David Schexnayder, Jacob Schexnayder, Daniel Sanders, Robby Sanders, Colin Sanders, Brayden Michlig and Brantley Michlig. Beloved great grandmother of her great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jane and Robert's love story began at the age of 14 when they met at the skating rink through friends. The next day Robert went to her house and met her on the front steps with her dog, Butch. This was the beginning of a life long love story of 74 years together truly in love with 70 of those years being married and having a wonderful family. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Always willing to put others before herself. Jane travelled all over the country, while her husband served in the Coast Guard all while raising a family of five. She loved her family, friends, and lived life to the fullest. She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile, kindness, love, and precious heart. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the long, fulfilling life she led and the precious memories she has left us.
There will be a private memorial service scheduled in the near future for family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society; www.cancer.org or March of Dimes; www.marchofdimes.org.
