Evelyn Hester
August 3, 1933 — January 17, 2025
Oliff Evelyn Cuppett Hester, 91, departed from this world peacefully on January 17, 2025 at Madison Heights at the Prado Assisted Living, in Macon, where she had been a resident for 18 months. Evelyn had dementia.
Born in Atkinson, GA, Evelyn grew up in Willacoochee, GA and attended school there. As a young girl, Evelyn loved being outdoors and working alongside her brothers on the farm. This interest transferred to Evelyn's gardens which she lovingly tended, and they produced a bounty of vegetables. She also grew grapes, nurtured fig trees, and many other things. She retired from American Office. She was married to her husband Carlton Hester for 39 years.
Her greatest joy came from the time she spent with family, creating cherished memories. Of course, these times often included some of the fabulous meals she would prepare! Evelyn was a wonderful cook and was known for her famous bbq sauce, cheese straws, and baked banana pudding among other dishes. Evelyn had a servant's heart where helping others was concerned and this was particularly evident by the many meals she prepared for those in need.
Evelyn, who was lovingly called "Granny" by many, was preceded in death by her beloved husband Carlton Hester, her parents Verna and Harry Cuppett, several siblings, and her devoted daughter Pamela Sanders. Mourning her loss are her sons Danny R. Bryant and Rickey A. Bryant (Karen) all of Macon; grandchildren Chris Bryant(Michelle) of Centerville, Stacey Daniel (Joe) of Macon, Chad Bryant (Christina) of Sharpsburg, Paige Miller (Carl) of New Market, AL, Adam Sanders (Heather) of Macon, Dr. Joshua Bryant of Macon; many great-grandchildren; and siblings Liz Drake, Sonny Cuppett, Billy Wayne Cuppett, and Sue Hadsock.
A service will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in the Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Hollis, Jr. officiating. A short visitation will be held at 1:30 with service following at 2:00 on Friday, January 24, 2025. Evelyn will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens; alongside her husband. The family would like to thank the staff of Traditions Hospice for their compassionate care they showed Evelyn.
