Eugene "Gene" Talmadge Hamlin, 84, of Lizella, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Church with Pastors Bobby Hamlin, Russ Bozeman and Ricky Tidwell officiating. Immediately following the service, Gene will be laid to rest in Roberta City Cemetery. The family will have a time of visitation Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Gene was born in Roberta, Georgia to the late Samuel and Hallie Tidwell Hamlin. He proudly served our country in the United States Army as a MP during the Korean War. After his time in the service he was the store manager for 12 years at the Piggly Wiggly, in Macon, Georgia. Gene then served a 33 year career as a Commissary Officer at Robins Air Force Base, where he was recognized as a top quality store throughout this industry. Gene was a faithful member of Fellowship Church and served as Crawford County District 4 Commissioner for 8 years. Gene was married to the love of his life Betty Hamlin for 44 years and together they had two sons whom were his pride and joy. He was by far his happiest when he was spending time with his family.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife, Betty Hamlin.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Mark Hamlin of Lizella and Todd Hamlin and his wife Michelle of Milledgeville.
