Elizabeth "Monk" Tyson Simms, 86, of Macon, Georgia entered her heavenly home on Thursday, December 12, 2024. Her funeral services will be private at a later date.
Monk was born on September 26, 1938, in Nashville, Georgia, to the late Mr. Robert Jerry Tyson and Mrs. Onnie Elizabeth Rowan. Once finishing high school, she met and married the love of her life, A.W. Simms; they spent 62 years together. She was a devoted Operator for BellSouth before retiring in Management within the company. Monk was the epitome of a true homemaker. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family, finding joy in crafting, cooking, and creating a warm, loving home. Her talents and passion extended beyond her family as she was an active member of the Home Makers Club and the Bell South Pioneers, contributing to her community with grace and kindness. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her, as she embodied the spirit of care, creativity, and selflessness in everything she did.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, A.W. Simms; brothers, James Tyson and Gene Tyson.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister-in-law, Geneva Tyson and many nieces and nephews.
