Elizabeth Akin

October 9, 1931 — December 25, 2020

Elizabeth "Beth" Jordan Akin, 89, went peacefully to heaven on December 25, 2020 with her doting family loving on and caring for her. Beth was born on October 9, 1931 in Macon, Georgia to Harmon and Gladys (Logue) Jordan. She resided mostly in Macon until she moved to Woodstock, Georgia in 1996 to be near her daughter, son-in-law and beloved grandsons.

Beth is survived by her daughter Betsy Akin Siegel, son-in-law Rick Siegel and grandsons Jeremy and Dylan Siegel; her sisters, Madge (Jordan) Householder and Faye (Jordan) Sanford; several cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Anderson Akin; son Clay Jordan Akin; parents, Harmon and Gladys Jordan; and brothers Harmon "Buck" Jordan and Earl "Buddy" Jordan.

Beth was devoted to her family, raising her two children by herself and always being present for and involved in the lives of her grandsons who were the greatest joys in her world. Her family was beyond thrilled when she moved to the Atlanta area where she was a short drive away and was always a shining light of love, support and calm, gentle guidance. She was a grace-filled lady who emulated integrity, was mightily self-reliant, so very resilient, completely unselfish, and possessed extraordinary strength.

Beth enjoyed a fulfilling 35-year career with New York Life Insurance Company where she earned her CLU (chartered life underwriter) designation, for which she studied tirelessly and felt much gratification to achieve. She considered it a highlight of her professional accomplishments and her family and work colleagues were so delighted and proud of her success.

Beth's loves and hobbies included sewing, gardening, bird watching, baking, traveling, hiking and walking, solving crossword puzzles and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, though, she relished spending time with family and friends.

Beth was so very loved and will be greatly missed.

A private funeral service will be held on December 30, 2020, at Fair Haven Funeral Home with a graveside service immediately following at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her son Clay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Macon Methodist Home for Children and Youth or the National Audubon Society.
