Douglass Scott Graves, 77, of Bonaire, Georgia passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. A memorial service to honor his life will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home, where military honors will be rendered. Pastor Lee Griffin will officiate the service.
Douglass was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on November 8, 1946, to the late Mr. Lee Dale Graves and Mrs. Dorothy Carol Funk. Douglass proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he faithfully served in the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged. He obtained the rank of Sergeant. Douglass went on to pursue a career at Bellsouth as a Lineman. He was a simple man that enjoyed wood-working, guns, working out and watching military documentaries. He was especially fond of politics and kept up with them. Above all, his family was the light of his life. Douglass devoted much of his time to ensuring they were always taken care of and well loved. His compassionate heart, strong mind and devoted spirit will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Graves.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 25 years, Marie Graves; sons, Shannon Lines, Scott Graves, Titus Justus, and Hayden Graves; daughters, Heather (Freddie) Cummings, Bonnie Pritchett, and Ashley Pritchett; brothers, Mike (Penny) Graves and Brad Gaves; grandchildren, Bo, Nichole (Hunter), Gunner, Wyatt (Kayla), Alanna (Brent), Starr and Bella; great grandchild, Adam; and a host of many nieces and nephews.
